Fort Walton Yacht Club Letter Log JULY 2018 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W Commodore’s Corner By Commodore Faye Black email: [email protected] THE BEE HIVE of activities around the club is an awesome sight! New and old members are enjoying activities and just coming down to enjoy our club. The summer season has begun at FWYC! Our Hurricane Committee had a non-evacuation drill on 16 June. I must say, it was a success, as it showed several deficiencies in our plan. The most important item of interest found was that not all slip renters have their contact information and alternate informa- tion current. An Individual Hurricane Plan is being mailed to all who do not have a current plan in their folder. If you are a wet slip renter, please assist the Hurricane Committee by filling this out as soon as possible and returning it to the Club. We’ve got a great 4th of July Event planned. It should reflect the old fashion celebrations from years ago. Lots of fun for young and old. Hope you can make it. Izzy and the staff are working hard to keep the grounds clean and trash emptied. ECSA instructors are picking up after sailing lessons and helping with emptying trash recepta- cles. There is one recycle receptacle at the north end of the patio, we hope to have more recycling containers soon. Please, no trash or food items in the blue – recycle container. Along that same line, if you are cleaning up your boat or have a large amount of trash, please get a dock cart and transport the trash to the dumpster in the Dry Storage area. There is also a recycling bin there as well. The dock trash containers are not meant for huge amounts of garbage. There will be a Yoga Class each Tuesday morning at the Club in the Dining Room at 9 AM. Please see the flyer elsewhere in the Letter Log for details. This class is for all levels of yoga and is open to members and non-members, males and females. Comments or suggestions – please let me know, [email protected].
