also enjoyed operating the big equipment, and who
wouldn't, but it didn't fulfill his passion for sailboat
racing. So, around 1985, he moved back to Fort
Walton Beach and has been sailing ever since. His
brothers, Barry and Sam are also club members. His
brother, Gary was a member until a few years ago.
Sandy Zevin and Stan Wilusz had a huge influence
on Phil. Besides being very competitive sailors, they
both enjoyed "giving back to the club." This concept

on the Board of Directors, Phil helped to create the Trophy Chair position
to keep the trophies updated and looking good. The creation of this
position was a result of finding the Bowlegs Treasure Chest Trophy in a
corner in major disrepair. So Phil gave the trophy a make-over and the
Trophy Chair position was born. Phil also maintains the FWYC racing
marks, but don't ask him why the "F" mark won't stay straight on the post.
Phil Pritchett is an icon at FWYC. His friendly, helpful, non- Phil at the helm of Jibe Talkin’ at the start
confrontational character endears him to everyone who gets to know him.
