It has been a year or so since my
last missive for the Letter Log and
I have to admit I missed talking
with so many unique and
fascinating club members. My
favorite part of the Fort Walton
Yacht Club is the people. Whether
they are still out plying the waters
aboard their current, lovely vessels or have “dropped
anchor” and now enjoy the company of friends, each person
has a memory or two of time spent aboard. Each memory
is backed with a story, and those stories are what I think the
Letter Log readership, as well as myself, would find
interesting. So here is the pitch ... I am soliciting stories to
write articles about in the coming months. I am hoping,
along with our ever patient editor, that you are willing to
share your story of time aboard, hairy, scary, funny or
thrilling; big catch, small catch, the one that got away;
successes and near misses; races won or lost, it’s up to you.
If it created a memory, it’s probably worth sharing. So, if
you are willing to spin a yarn, please contact me at:
[email protected]. Then watch this space each month
and get to know your other club members just a bit better
as I tell you a story.

knots. Many of the sailors from our schools had never b
