The Florida Council of Yacht Clubs
As many of you know, our Club is a member of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs (FCYC). This
membership keeps us aware of happenings in other member clubs, gives us an ear, and a voice, on
what is taking place in the legislature that may impact our Club. In addition, our membership in FCYC
affords our members reciprocal privileges at other member clubs.... the ability to charge your food and drink to your FWYC club
number and one free night of dockage at the various clubs. More information and detail about the FCYC can be found at
http://www.floridacouncilofyachtclubs.com/ or you can contact one of your Directors... Tom Reynolds or Reddoch Williams
P/Cs Reynolds & Williams and spouses attended the January meeting at the Tampa Yacht & Country Club – just a little
background on the TYCC: founded in 1904; 1400+ members; 160 employees (70 full time)
The Commander, Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) ,Rear Admiral Wyman Howard gave an overview of threats
and readiness … a great talk...
The FCYC Cruising Guide 17 th Edition is now available. This gives details about FCYC clubs, contact information,
directions by land and water. PDF copies have been sent to all Club Managers and FCYC Directors- these may be
distributed to members and/or printed out for sale. Fleet Captain East Joey Sowell and Publication Chair Carl Schultz are
polling all of the clubs who have not updated their Cruising Guide information for current information. Once assembled,
a new electronic copy will be forwarded to all clubs. Our new distribution method for the FCYC Cruising Guide is not
only inexpensive (free) it can be continuously updated... a big improvement over previous years. Suggestion: download a
copy and put it on your tablet, laptop, phone so that you will always have it available while traveling.... you never know
when you might be in the area of one of our Clubs and would like to stop in.
Office Depot offers a significant discount to FCYC members. ( As a member of an FCYC Club you ARE an FCYC
member). The Office has a copy of the coupon which may be given to members. Just take it to Office Depot and it will
be converted to a membership card offering SIGNIFICANT discounts.. Carl Schultz says that if you want a bound color
copy of the Cruising Guide... using the discount card, it should be about $22.
