Letter Log February 2019 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W From The Office You may notice a few advertisements in the Letter Log this month. We will summarize a few of them here as well. Many GYA yacht clubs are adopting a policy that will not allow you to charge purchases from their club unless you have a current GYA sticker on your membership card. We will attempt to get you your stickers as we see you at the club, but please stop by the office and get your current sticker. This will allow you to fully utilize your membership and enjoy reciprocity from our friends throughout the gulf coast. We found a money clip on the pavers around the first of the year and it had quite a few dollars attached. So far, no one has asked about it, so if you or a guest of yours lost some here at the club, please contact the office. Describe the clip and reclaim your cash. Mike Shackleford, our maintenance man found the clip and kindly turned into the office. On Friday, February 15th we will be serving a special Valentine’s dinner. This is going to be a real treat with apricot glazed Cornish hen served with wild rice with mushrooms. The full menu is on the next page. We will also be running a special on Pinot Noir that evening to accompany your meal. The after-dinner wine event, Sip & Swirl sold out with over 80 members and guests signing up. This should be a great event and we are looking at doing a Bourbon tasting soon. Your monthly statement from the club. It now contains contact information for Kristen, our bookkeeper. She has added account aging at the bottom of the statement for your to better understand the status of your payments on your account and to help members from receiving past due notices or losing your charging privileges. This month we also start hosting the Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee monthly meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month and the Son’s of Italy monthly meetings as well. We are hopeful that these events will expose the club to more business leaders and potential new members to club. Our marketing efforts continue to generate new business for the club that has helped improve the bottom line while still staying within our allowances as a not for profit club. We look forward to seeing you at the club. 7
