Sail On P/C Don Raimey
To describe the life of Donald C. Raimey would be to describe a life of fullness, devotion, and
love. He was born in Lansing, Michigan to Marvin and Minnie Raimey on June 8, 1921 and
passed away in Birmingham, Alabama on January 4, 2018.
In 1966, Don joined the Fort Walton Yacht Club, where in 1970 he served as Commodore. Don,
Lea, and their children raced sailboats for many years as a family. At his death, he was the
oldest living past commodore and his legacy will undoubtedly live on among the waters of
Choctawhatchee Bay.
Don is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lea, his daughter and son-in-law Jesse and Robin
(Raimey) Borthwick, his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Diane Raimey, and his daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Ray and Tricia (Raimey) Sansom. He also leaves behind seven beloved
grandchildren, and seven beloved great-grandchildren.
