FWYC Letter Log December 2017 | Page 3

The Belltower Walton Yacht Club was privileged to accept a marvelous new piece of art at the November board F to ort meeting. Second generation member, Gary Pritchett presented the club with a hand-crafted cabinet support the wonderful bell tower constructed by Past Commodore Dave Vaughan. This ship’s bell is used to ring in the new Flag Officers at each January’s Change of Watch. As delightful as the cabinet is, the real poignancy of the evening was contained in Gary’s heartfelt speech. He expressed an enduring love of our Club and praised the constancy of FWYC and its mem- bership. He spoke to a youth filled with yacht club members. He spoke of his parents involvement and his own. He gave an ode on what yacht club membership means. With Gary’s gift, he has furthered FWYC’s traditions by literally housing and supporting them. His lovely cabinet will abide in the Commodore’s Room and be enjoyed by future generations. If you would like to share in the continuum and see the cabinet and bell in action, please join the 2017 Flag, 2018 Flag, incoming and outgoing Directors for the Change of Watch on January 6th.
