FWYC Letter Log December 2016 | Page 6

at the helm

Well, only 33 more days to go as Commodore- but who’ s counting?

I spent the day at the club today( 26 Nov), trying to act helpful while observing the Christmas decorations being put in place. I’ m always amazed by how many members show up to help make their club look cheery for the holidays. Everyone assigns themselves a task, and in short order, the entire club is looking like Christmas! I hope I don’ t forget anyone, but I must thank the following who worked about 5 to 6 hours today:
Ann and Ray Dewrell, Al and Carol Stearns, Jenny and Scott Bailey, Mickey and Dee LaGarde, Faye and Jerry Black, Dan and Jean Mattiza, Jennifer & Sam Grant, Deanna and Matt Chapman, Jan & Charles Hine, Phyllis Seaton, Shari Seaton, Lynn Wooten, Tammi Brant and Steve Mee, Wini Jimmerson, Gwen Jennings, Brownie Pemberton, Astrid Krajeck, Paul Yergens, Karen David, Lynne & Tom Reynolds and of course Judy Williams.
Everyone was treated to Francesca’ s pizza, which was unanimously acclaimed as great.
We’ ll need volunteers again for the“ undecorate party” on Monday 2 January 2017. Please show up and help pack up the decorations for next Christmas.
Jim Serpa recently had a work party to clean up and repair dry storage areas. This party was a great success, and more are planned in the immediate future. Good work Jim and your volunteers!
Upcoming events: The annual Egg Nog party will be 11 December at 4:00 pm. I encourage you to attend- this is always an enjoyable and low pressure get together with good food and libations.
15 December is the annual boat parade and chili cook off. Make your best chili, decorate your boat, and come on out for an enjoyable evening.
Last event of this year is the New Year’ s Eve party. Rear Commodore Seaton promises it will be lively and entertaining.
The Change of Watch ceremony occurs on January 7th. I encourage you all to make reservations and come help formally induct your new officers while enjoying a great meal in the process.
Commodore elect Ray Dewrell will be asking many members for help with committees and other needs. Support him in his difficult task of guiding our club next year, as you have supported me this year.
