FWYC Letter Log August 2014 | Page 14

Page 14 The FWYC Chapter of the Florida Commodores Association By the time you read this column, we will have returned from the Lake Beresford Yacht Club... hope to have more info on what went on and perhaps a few pictures of their new club. By the way, they are also an FCYC club, so while they are not easy to reach by water, if you are in the Deland area, give them a visit. One of the things that the FCA has done in the past and continues to do every year is to contribute something of need or value to our Club. This year our contribution will be new entry lights on the wall next to the new gate. When the new gate is finally installed, take a minute to observe the lights. Organizational work on the FCA Foundation (Florida Commodores Association Foundation, Inc) continues. We have created a not-for-profit charitable foundation which will · promote, train and advance leadership in yacht clubs and yachting organizations · encourage and promote safe boating by amateur sailors and, in particular, to foster local, regional, state, national and international sports competition · promote, publicize, and support individuals already involved in competition and desiring to advance to national, international or Olympic competition (excerpts from our articles of incorporation) Our next luncheon meeting is Tuesday, August 5th at noon in the Commodores’ Room at the club.
