Letter Log March 2020 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W General Manager’s Update How quickly things have changed for our club and our country. Like businesses around the country our club has gone from having something on the calendar almost everyday to almost nothing. How we are adapting to the current situation is to think, what we can do for our members in these tough economic times. First let us highlight the mandates from the governor of Florida. First and foremost, we should all practice self-distancing. We can serve food in a takeout or delivery service only. We are not allowed to serve alco- holic beverages unless they are to go and delivered in a sealed container. This does not include drinks that have a lid on them. We are not allowed any functions that attract groups of people. The Governor’s latest mandate is that people over 65 should stay at home, since they are the ones most likely to incur serious threats to their long-term health. All to go orders must be eaten off premises, so please do not expect the staff to prepare food for you to eat at the beach. Remember we are also mandated to keep people from congregating at the club, That being said, here is what we can do and what we are doing, we have set new club hours, which are 11:00AM to 7:00PM, Tuesday through Saturday. We have a smaller menu that includes mainly sandwiches and pizzas. We offer a daily special that gives our mem- bers access to a complete meal each day and we are offering group meals for special holidays. We have an Easter dinner planned and have already received numerous orders for a ham dinner that feeds up to six people. We have also developed a member’s only pan- try, where you can buy, meats, eggs, produce and household staples. Right now, we even have toilet paper and paper towels, bleach and antibacterial hand soap. We are setting up Uber eats and have hired a delivery service so that you do not have to leave your home. We are running with a skeleton crew so please be patient when calling to place your orders. Each morning all surfaces of the club are sterilized including benches and tables at the Gazebo. We are taking the opportunity to paint certain areas of the club, including the parking lots and trim in the lounge area. We are doing a deep cleaning of the kitchen area not only daily, but some long overdo projects including painting and repairing broken fixtures. When we recover, we hope you all notice how good the club is looking, We are making every effort to keep our staff in place so that we can recover quickly. Every employee has reduced hours and some people are working from home, where possible. While we are not hitting the financial results provided in our budget, we are oper- ating at a close to breakeven. The staff has taken it upon themselves to be there for you our members. Please make sure you tell them that what they are doing is appreciated. They are all placing themselves in a larger than necessary health risk in order to serve you. We will get through this if we all cooperate. 7
