Fort Walton Yacht Club Letter Log April 2018 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W HOMEPORT By Vice Commodore Craig Stoldt Email: VICE [email protected] WELL, IT HAS TAKEN ME a while to get rolling on some projects, but hopefully things will pick up in April. We did get the carpets professionally cleaned and will repeat that ev- ery 6 months. A few volunteers (thanks Jennifer, Jan & Cece) took on the role of scullery maids and hand scrubbed the tile in the bar and dining room – Thanks ! The request to allocate funds for the upgrade of the South Docks was made at the March Board meeting. Assuming approval in April, we will get the contractor started as soon as possible. The electric service to the point has been repaired and tested so users of the Gazebo & regatta campers can safely use the outlets. Junior Room wall repairs are ongoing. After interior removal, it will need time to dry out. I have received a couple of differing suggestions on how to then rehab the interior. I will discuss with the users of the room on the most desirable way to complete the task. Also, for the really young Juniors (ie. tots), a new toy box was pur- chased to keep thing neat in the Castaway room. The Landscape Committee will have had their second work session to rehab the planting areas by the time this is published. Still (always) more to do – volunteers welcome. Hurricane Briefing Thursday, May 3, at 6 PM in the Dining Room Want to have a chance at some real money? All members who rent a wet slip MUST ATTEND this briefing or send your alternate. Members who rent a slip in Dry Storage are encouraged to attend. Insurance policies will be updated in your files and hurricane evacuation plans will be reviewed. Join us at the club for the Friday Night drawing. Each week, a Member's number is drawn and, IF YOU ARE PRESENT, you get the dinero in the form of a club credit. If you're not there, then the amount is increased by $25 and rolls over to the next Friday!! Complacency will not keep a hurricane from coming our way and neither will being well prepared. How ever, being well prepared will ensure that we have done all we can to pro- tect our vessels and our Club property. Some pots have grown to be hudreds of dollars... and it coud be yours!!
