THE MARCH CRUISE was ably led by the Bush-
elle’s on Perigrino. Paula and Bill are veterans at lead-
ing the way to a great time aboard. Five boats made
up the Club Flotilla to Hogtown Bayou at the eastern
end of Choctawhatchee bay. Last Fling with Ralph and
Carol Thornberg; Wanderer with Robb and Pat Ren-
nie; Peregrino with Bill and Paula Bushelle; Dream of
the C’s with Craig, CeCe and Roxie Stoldt and Falcon’s
Nest with Mike and Donna Metruck.

The winds a llowed the sailboats to make their way to
the anchorage under sail alone. Always a plus. The
weather was perfect for socializing in the evening
and enjoying the company all around. Some of the on
board entertainment included cruising traditions - the blowing of the conch shell at
sunset and when folks started to stir the next day, they danced to the Young Rascals
“It’s a Beautiful Morning”. It also helped to warm things up. More socializing over
coffee before hauling anchors. Boats started getting underway around nine but some
lingered longer. The real beauty of cruising, to each his own schedule. The winds
were low at the start of the trip back to the Fort Walton Yacht Club but picked up
enough by mid-day to allow sails to carry the group home. The weekend was a great
success with all returning refreshed.
The April cruise will be the weekend of April 21-22 and we’ll make the trek to Rocky
Bayou. Skipper’s meeting will be at 9am in the Castaway Room on April 21. If you
would like more information, please contact Pat Tye at [email protected]. We
look forward to seeing you then!
