FWYC Letter Log April 2017 | Page 14

Ahoy! C an you believe it’s April already? Seems like the Spring (for our locale) has just flown by. I hope you had the chance to partake in some of the March club events. We had a great Showing of the Green on St. Patrick’s Day that made it tough on the judge’s panel to pick the winners. That was quickly followed by our wonderful Mongolian Barbeque (thanks Eric & Staff) that saw well over 100 people enjoy their choice of meats & veggies. And then it was Spring (for the rest of the country) and our time to burn our old winter socks and shift to sandals & flip flops. This was accompanied with blessings from the Flip-Flop Fairy. Many thanks to the decorating committees that set up for St. Patrick’s Day and the next morning transformed the club to a beach bar for Spring. So…. How do we top these activities? Come to the First Friday (April 7) and enjoy the music of Stevie Hall. Great oppor- tunity for fellowship & dancing in preparation for the General Membership meeting on April 9. Then on Easter (April 16), the Easter Bunny will be visiting FWYC to greet the children and assist them in the 2 Egg Hunts that will be held. Bring your families, enjoy a wonderful Easter Brunch menu and watch the little ones search for eggs on the back lawn. To help facilitate a good hunt, I am asking for donations of plastic eggs to put candy & prizes in and also wrapped candy that can be placed in the eggs. A box is located in the lobby for your convenience. Looking further ahead. Ladies, start planning & decorating your Derby hats for our annual gathering for the Kentucky Derby on May 6. Also, all should limber up their legs to enter the horse races on the lawn! Have a great April & hope to see you around the club. ~ Rear Commodore Craig Stoldt Upcoming Races Wednesday Night Fun Races April 5th ~ April 12th April 19th ~ April 26th April 23rd Midbay Bridge Sprint April 26th-30th WetaFest 14
