FWYC Letter Log April 2014 | Page 4

Page 4 In Port Another month has gone by, it’s April already, and Spring is moving right along! I hope you’re all looking forward to the many activities to come in Spring and Summer. I’d like to thank the many folks who have been working to help make the FWYC property ready for this upcoming busy season and especially for our first big events of the year. The Landscape Committee has been working hard, and we’ve had great help decorating the Club for events. A hearty “Thank You” to you all! We had to fix a couple of things in the clubhouse in March. The water heater that serves the kitchen had to be replaced. Also, many of you are aware that an electrical problem in the kitchen precipitated an evacuation of the Club last month. Member James Ballard, along with help from several others, spent a number of hours checking out the problem. It was tracked down and fixed that night. I’m always hopeful that we don’t have issues like these, but they sometimes occur. We’ll remain vigilant to avoid them in the future. I ask that all of you be observant and if you spot something that seems to have the potential to become a problem, please let us know. Report it on a maintenance form or let Eric, David, or me know so we can take care of it. Another item of interest is the Club’s roof. While we don’t think the roof is in need of immediate replacement, we will probably have to do some maintenance on it soon, so we’re looking at our options in that regard. benefit when we all participate. By the time you read this, we may have already held our first Self-Help Day of the year, on 29 March, but that’s not the only thing going on. There will be regattas and other activities, or you can just watch the sunset from the clubhouse or out on the point. We’re here for fellowship and enjoyment among all of us, together. I hope to see you here!
