Fuzionz: What advice would you give to those seeking a career in this type of industry?

Betty: This industry is an industry that you have to know your business. You lose so much when you don’t put anything into your business. You are represented by that client, when they walk out the door. They are representing who you are. You have to have the tenacity to learn all you can learn and not be afraid to venture out into areas you normally would not go. I think you would make it when you get out there. There are

Caucasians, Hispanics, and Asians; there are a lot of people out there who need the same thing you need, so why not learn how to be versatile. In Pantego, we had stylists who could do any type of hair. That’s what I want to see. I think that if you don’t really get out there and learn your market, you want make it

Fuzionz: Please give us some words of inspiration or encouragement to take with us for the future.

Betty: Everybody says the economy is bad and everybody says I can’t find a job, but there’s a lot going on. We as a people have lived in all types of situations, so we know how to go out there and make it work. You may not be where you want to be in this moment, but if you would take an hour a day and work on your dreams, you’ll get there. If you put that hour into something you want to do, soon you’re going to put in two hours, you’re going to find yourself at three hours, then you’re going to find yourself where you want to be, but you’ve got to keep that dream alive. If you want to be at the top of the line, you have to work on it.
