Betty Moore is the CEO and proud Owner of Virunde' Salon and Spa in Red Oak, Texas. The Salon and Spa recently had its Grand Opening. The retired financial planner spoke to us about the business and her plans for the future.

Fuzionz: Tell me a little about who you are.

Betty: I am not a cosmetologist, that’s the first thing. [Laughing]. I am a financial planner. What got me interested in the cosmetology field was my daughter became a hair dresser and we were trying to promote her. I opened up another shop in Red Oak, Texas, along with the one we had in Pantego, so that she would have a place to work and to be able to establish herself in that industry. Once I started, I was looking at the financial aspects and it was really lucrative. I thought, I wasn’t a hair dresser, but I knew how to run a business. That's what's important, when you know how to run a business, day to day operations can always be handled by somebody else. Once I did that for about seven years, I decided since my shop was about sixty miles from me, why don't I just turn this over to my daughter and start one in the area that I live in, Red Oak, Texas. So that's basically how I started. I am from Teague, Texas. I grew up and went to school in Ennis, Texas. After that, I married and had five children. I raised all of our children and everyone who wanted to go to college, we sent them. After everyone did what they wanted to do, I went back to college myself and I got my Bachelors and Masters in Science. I'm a retired financial

planner from the City of Dallas.

Fuzionz: Tell me about Virunde’. How did you come up with the name?

Betty: I started my shop her and I tried to find a name. I have three daughters whom I respect very much, so I just took their first names, and that’s how I came up with Virunde’ Salon and Spa. I wanted to have something personal, something that when I'm gone, it's still part of my family.

Fuzionz: How does it feel to have your own salon and spa?

Betty: It's really an awesome feeling. I really learned a lot from my daughter, as far as the biggest operations of a salon and to be able to have my own salon where I have a lot more that I want to do other than just having a place for stylists to come and build their business. I want to be able to bring more into my salon. I’m going to try and have
