The Mighty Kingss

HISTORY OF

COURTESY OF TONY WALLS MEDIA

As with any group of individuals that is moving forward as a team, it would be impossible to know how far they’ve come without knowing their history. It was by pure fate that the members all happened to join the Mighty Kings organization and come together the way they did. There were no open tryouts, or any recruiting that transpired. There were multiple 3rd grade teams at the time of the team’s inception, and the best talent in that grade from multiple teams was combined to make an “Elite” 2022 team.

“The Process” of development began. The coach of Mighty Kings 2022, Tony Walls, is a software engineer by trade, so approaching things from a systematic and procedural point of view is rather natural for him. There was no rush or expectations for this team, only the desire for them to develop within the game and try to compete at a high level. It was never and is still not about wins and losses. Local tournaments were the next logical step. There, the mettle of the team was definitely tested and pushed to its boundaries. There were some definite highs and lows, some early exits, as well as a few championship runs. Exposure to higher and more diverse competition opened not only the players and coaches to the limitless possibilities, but the parents as well.

Most parents took to this new identity of the team becoming truly elite and idea of the team becoming more serious. This involved the kids and parents becoming more dedicated to attending multiple weekly practices and the kids sacrificing some extra-curricular activities for year round development. It was also decided that playing up a year would produce bigger, faster, and more astute competition on a regular basis during league play. As a result of this dedication,
