Q: Tell me a little about Author Jackie Monroe, the lady behind the writing scene.

A: I am Success-Strategist, Empowerment Speaker & Author. My company is called J. Monroe Consulting Coaching & Speaking. My passion is inspiring others to be accountable for their own lives. I also empower others through self-discovery coaching that helps them to identify their “success-factor” so that they can create a plan that will allow them to live the life they want to live. This is why they call me the “The Success-Ability Coach”. I don’t just tell people what to do, I guide them through the process of strategic thinking and planning so that they can make better decisions about their personal and professional lives on their own; I just coach them through the process.

I am a magazine junkie; I read 3 or 4 magazines a month. I also love music. I was once a radio personality by the name of “Blacque Butterfly”. My favorite past time is relaxing and watching TV. I love the ID Channel with all of the investigative television shows because I’m a problem solver myself and inquisitive in nature. Of course, shopping is a form of therapy for me. I’m such a girl!!

Q: At what age did you start writing? Please include your motivation or inspiration behind wanting to write.

A: English was always my favorite subject in school. In fact, I initially wanted to become an English teacher. I have always enjoyed reading and writing but I never thought I would be an author. I started seriously writing when I was about 35 although the thought had crossed my mind a while before that time. My initials thought about writing were that I wanted to help people. I believed that I could do that through writing as well as through speaking.

Q: What types of stories do you write?

A: Non-fiction. I am working on two other books right now. One is a 30-daily affirmations book and another one is a book where I will inspire others to understand how to use their natural and professional skills and abilities in a way that will lead them to success, as they define it.

Q: As an author, what has been your biggest challenges?

A: Writing in and of itself was challenging for me. There are so many things that demand my time right now so being able to stay focused and undistracted enough to develop quality content so that I can publish a quality book. Writing takes time and discipline.

Q: Tell us about your latest book and what motivated you to write it. Please include how you came up with the title.

A:The inspiration for my first book, Broken But Not Destroyed: Restoration Is Possible, was God, honestly. I was going through a period of devastation as my marriage had fallen apart and suddenly I found myself not only dealing with that, but other things that had really hurt me in the past that I had suppressed for many years. Once I started dealing with the pain of death of my marriage, all of those memories of childhood violations and other incidents resurfaced and started flooding my mind and thoughts to the point that I could not rest. I began to journal my thoughts and feelings because I really didn’t know what else to do with them. My entries became longer and longer. One day “write a book” kept coming to my mind. Naturally, I dismissed it at first. But
