AN INTERVIEW WITH A ROLE MODEL

Q: Tell me a little about who Ms. Peggy Dodson is.

A: I am a country girl with a city mind is what I always say. I love nature, music, sports, reading great books, meeting new people and I love my family. I am determined, focused, creative and a bit hard headed at times but I am a very good listener. My desire is to help make this world a better place and for people to come together instead of apart.

Q: When did you first know what you wanted to be or do in life?

A: When I was 8 or 9 years old. I knew I wanted to make movies sing, write and do something special. I used to play act with my brothers and sister. We would all have parts and did live action scenes. It was fun. We would just make up situations and then play act them out.

Q: Who or what do you attribute to getting you started on your road to success?

A: My Mother and Father. They were amazing people and both owed businesses and raised a family of 5. They were trailblazers and my inspiration.

Q: What has been your biggest challenge(s) on your road to success?

A: Getting people to comprehend the magnitude of what I am doing. It is not something that’s in a boox, it has been created through my soul, my mind and God. I have been before my time for awhile now and am happy that people are finally beginning to see what I have been talking about for some years. Its hard with investors because they are looking for something standard and this is not standard. The other one has been funding. That’s a big issue for new businesses and for ventures that are not traditional. It is a full time job to fund raise and its my job to do it. The other is finding good people who are really qualified and who can think outside

Ms. Dodson moved back to New York, where she became very active in the Harlem Community. She was appointed by Manhattan Borough President, C. She was featured on the cover of ‘Black Enterprise Magazine’ in 2002 and was also a featured speaker on Tavis Smiley’s ‘Blacks in Technology’ Tour that traveled across America.
