FUZIONZ: Tell us a little about who Bruce George is; the man behind the scenes, including your biggest i.

BRUCE GEORGE: I am a child of God, I’m an activist, a writer, a social critic; you name it. Who I am and what I do is not necessarily one in the same. A lot of times we will define who we are by what we do. First and foremost, I’m a child of God. In terms of who inspired me since I was a child, my mother was a great inspiration in terms of my writing, she was a great inspiration in terms of my discipline because my father wasn’t around since I was

four, so I didn’t have that father figure there to lean on. A mother can’t raise a child to be a man the way a father can, but she did her best. So I would say my mother was very instrumental in getting me rooted and grounded.

FUZIONZ: Let’s talk about your poetry writing. At what age did you start writing and tell us the motivation behind it?

BRUCE GEORGE: Again, I was raised by a single parent mom who was the first poet, in our family, that we know of. She would always use exotic words around me because she has a love of words as I do. Not only did I fall in love with words, but it also made me think and write because of the fact that I didn’t have a father in my life and I felt that sense of isolation. As an activist, George is associated with major grassroots organizations that promotes the growth and development of people in struggle. He conducts creative writing/performance poetry workshops for colleges, universities, organizations, nationally and internationally, and is an Executive Consultant for multiple organizations.
