passion for teaching. The things I focus on now is being a mom and teaching. That’s pretty much where I got my start and where I’ve evolved to,” she cited.

In our interview, Ms. Irene Rene tells me about her latest release and how she came up with the title. “The name of the album is called Serendipitous Experience and I came up with the name because Serendipity means good fortune. I write all of my lyrics. I had about seven songs and I needed two more songs to fill out my album and I didn’t want to go back to the same producers that I was working with, so I’m cleaning up one day and it was really heavy on my heart because I have a timeline when I wanted to have all of the songs written and go in the studio without a whole bunch of hassle. I’m cleaning up and I go in my closet and pulled out this bag. I reach inside and there’s a whole bunch of CDs in there. It was from and old buddy that is a producer. He had given those songs to me, so I started writing from like five or six sets he had given me. So that’s how I got my album and titled it Serendipitous Experience. The title song is called “Feeling Good” and I actually wrote that song because at the time I was substitute teaching for a pre-school class and you know pre-school is about four to five years old, so the teacher left assignments to do to keep them busy. I started passing out the coloring sheets and the write your ABC sheets, so this little boy looked at me and said, “I’m not doing that!” In the back of my mind, I’m like “yes you are!” What student tells you what they’re not going to do? That just blew my mind. So I went home and the little boy just stayed on my mind. What if we as adults had that kind of brazen mentality? Life is sometimes like that big monster in our life. We bow down to it, but this little boy didn’t care how tall I was, he was not going to do that assignment and he let me know and so I thought, what if we are like that with life, “I’m not going to bow down to you, I’m not going to lay down on the side of the road, I’m not going to let these issues get me down, I’m going to just keep going forward.” That’s what inspired that song, that little boy, his mentality about what it was he wasn’t going to do. Then I have a song in there called “I Love It.” It was born out of a broken relationship, as so many times people are broken after a relationship. They don’t recognize that their time and their alone time is quality time and that “I love being by myself sometimes.” I wanted to write a song that represented that. I talk about eight hours of sleep and being drama free and I really cherish that.
