Damien’s music background comes from his father, Harry Elston, a popular singer during the 70’s, who song with Friends of Distinction and went on the road with Ray Charles, the Fifth Dimensions and the Hi Fi’s. Damien went solo in 2008 after Phase 3 broke up. During that time, he decided to produce his own music. He worked with a producer by the name of Shawn Thomas. Thomas produced a song that he and Damien wrote together called “What You Gonna Do?” which was recorded in California. Once it was released, the song immediately went to the charts overseas. “I was discovered by UK Soul Charts; an independent by the name of J. L. James. “What You Gonna Do?” was a pretty big hit over there.

In January, 2014, Damien had his first video made to a song called “In My Life,” which was also produced by Shawn Thomas, in California. “Shawn sent me the music, I recorded it and sent it back to him. So I used that song for my video. That was my first video and I will be doing another video again, real soon" said Damien. He would later start singing with an R&B group called Phase 3 in 1992. “Phase 3 was looking for another member and they called me. They spotted me and wanted me to join their group. We did a lot of shows in California. I moved to California because that’s where my father lives. That’s how I ended up in California and joining, the group, Phase 3,” said Damien. The group performed at many shows around Hollywood, singing at showcases with various artist; usher being one, which a lot of great things came out of that. “We had a record deal, well a compilation deal. We were with an entertainment company at the time and the album was distributed to record companies; however, nothing really came about that due to legal issues and after that I pretty much branched out on my own and started doing my own thing,” cited Damien.
