Why We Lie

by

Montavian Morrow

Have you ever been involved in the time honored classic debate about “all men being liars”? Or who lies more in relationships, men or women? How about who’s the better liar? The truth is that in this TV scripted reality show, whose baby is it talk show, stars of cheaters driven society we live in we can honestly say that there is a fair amount of lying occurring by both sexes. There is a reason you’ve been on Maury 4 times and still don’t know who the real father is baby girl. And there is also a reason you’ve been on the show 4 times with different women as a possible candidate for a child support payment playa. Somebody was obviously lying to somebody. The question is, outside of the obvious moral implications, is why lie?

Allow this writer to submit to you a possible answer to this question. Whether you know it or not, the environment or the atmosphere one surrounds themselves with has a direct reflection on habit and behavior. What you see and do on a daily basis becomes what is normal and acceptable. For example if you surround yourself with couples that fight everyday subconsciously fighting couples become normal to you. If you involve yourself with someone who has not been subjected to the daily fighting of couples, and the two of you fight all the time, one will see this behavior as normal while the other will see a major problem. On that same basis of thought is the reason this writer believes our society, especially as it deals with relationships, lie. We have been trained to do so.
