Fuzionz Magazine and TV stepped into the world of Ralph Garrett. Not only is Ralph a husband and a father, but he is also an actor, entrepreneuer, model and a mime. Check out our interview with Ralph Garrett as he not only gives us a little insight as to who he is, he also shares some of his words of inspiration.

Fuzionz: Tell us about who Ralph Garrett is.

Ralph: I’m originally from Chicago, IL and we moved to Dallas in 1984. My mother and father were deaf and I was at a young age and couldn’t stay Chicago by myself, so I had to follow my parents. There were five boys and one girl; I was the oldest. We ended up in Texas because my dad had family here; however, my mom was originally from Chicago.

Fuzionz: What do you do outside of your regular 9-5 job?

Ralph: My job outside of my job: I’m a father of eight. I’ve been with my wife for twenty years, but we’ve been married for thirteen years. I work with the youth, I act, I mime, I model and I’m very active in my kid’s lives, so not only am I a dad, I’m a father. Basically that’s what I do.

Fuzionz: Elaborate on the miming.

Ralph: The miming came in when I was in production and acting, I saw two young men go by the names of Wondering Mimes and I was very inspired. What I do in miming is I interpret. As I said before, my mom and dad were deaf, so I interpret a song in sign language and in dance. I started doing it around 2003 and I’ve been miming to this day. When I’m invited to a church and there are visitors there and they’re watching what you do. When they see what you do and know what you do, they ask if you have a contact number. That’s why it’s always important to have cards with you. It may be 5-10 years from now, but they will contact you. They may see me on Facebook, YouTube, hear about me through word of mouth or whatever the case may be and they’ll ask if I’m free or can you do this or do that. I just love what I do. I believe it’s going to be bigger. One day I might mime in the White House or BET, so get ready.

Fuzionz: Who has been the biggest inspiration in your life?

Ralph: The biggest inspiration, I must say, is James Evans on Good Times. I was inspired by him because no matter what happened or how hard times were, he never left his family. Honestly, he’s my biggest inspiration, even though it was only a show and acting, but it’s real life for men. To have to endure as a family, there has to be a leader.

Fuzionz: Tell us about some of your biggest challenges in your life.

Ralph: My biggest challenge is losing loved ones. My sister died in 1993, in a car wreck, then my father died a year later, in 1994 and my mom died in 1997, of Alzheimer’s. I raised my brothers and sisters. My sister was next to me in age. I raised three nephews. So, my next biggest challenge was trying to keep the family together. My family knows me; first God, then family.
