Q: Tell us about yourself. Who is Shameeka Hunt?

A: I grew up in Maryland with my parents and 1 younger sister. I received my undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in Electrical Engineering. I received my Master degree from George Washington University in Electrical Engineering. I am a Certified Project Manager.

I am married to my soul mate of over 10 years and we have 2 beautiful children. We reside in Maryland. I love being with my immediate and extended families. I love the football and traveling. My favorite place to travel to is anywhere in the Caribbean, where the waters are crystal clear, sky is blue, and weather is warm. Although I grew up in the north, I am cold-blooded. I am not a fan of the cold and would love to retreat to the south someday.

My family and friends know me to be focused and determined to achieve whatever I set out to do. I am a hard worker, multi-tasker, and determined to excel 110% in whatever I do. My favorite quote is from the Bible, where it says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” No matter the situation or circumstance, I always speak this scripture to myself.

Q: Who has been your inspiration?

A: God is my source and where my help comes from. Outside of God, my inspiration began with my parents and continues with my husband and children.

Growing up my parents always instilled in me to always do my best and that getting a good education and doing well in school was my only priority. Being a black female, my parents made sure I was grounded in knowing that while the world may have biases, I should set out to accomplish whatever my mind and heart desired. And these are things that ‘til this day I never forget and that drives me to never quit, even with adversity.

My husband is my balance and source of wisdom. We were created for each other and without my husband I don’t know where I would be. My husband encourages me to go after and seek those things that will bring me fulfilment. But always, my husband keeps me balanced so that I don’t lose sight of decisions and actions that I make and how it could impact me and our family. Not agreeing with everything I say and do, and yet giving me the room to grow and make mistakes, I receive what my husband says out of love (although I may pout at first!). And then there are my kids. Before having children I was Mrs. Corporate
