While the current disruption to school life is
demoralising, it also provides time and space
to think about your personal direction and
to try new and creative activities. Without
putting too much pressure on yourself, why
not have a go at one of the following?

t the very least, setting yourself small goals
and challenges may improve your physical and
mental health, while giving you a ready-made
response to the inevitable future employer
question: “What did you do with yourself
during lockdown?”

Contribute
to a coronavirus
time capsule.
The Coronavirus Time Capsule is
a project by Company Three in a
response to the global COVID-19
pandemic, offering teenagers
support, connection and a space to
be creative. It provides a week-byweek
response to the pandemic
through the eyes of teenagers around
the world and instructions for making
videos of your own.

Find
your muse.
Modern Muse
connects girls with
successful female role
models in lots of different
jobs. They are called muses
and share their career and
education stories. Via Modern
Muse, girls explore different
career options, get advice from
muses and learn about many
of the companies they work
for. If you are aged 13-18 and
become an ambassador,
promoting Modern Muse in your
school, the charity will support
you to develop careerenhancing
skills and networks.

Improve
your
numeracy.
No matter the role or
sector, almost every job requires
some level of numeracy, whether
you aspire to be a jet fighter pilot,
journalist or sports announcer.
National Numeracy Day may have
passed you by in May, given recent
events, but its practical and inspiring
resources are available to access at
any time, ranging from videos about
how we use numbers in everyday life
to TV personality Martin Lewis talking
about maths and money.

Learn
on TikTok.
Among the flims
showcasing comedy
and talent, TikTok hosts a
wide range of learning videos.
Search #LearnOnTikTok for
everything from science
experiments to cooking tips.
The social media giant has also
just announced plans to
commission hundreds of
experts and institutions to
produce educational content
for the platform. At launch,
videos will include British actor
Sean Sagar sharing tips on
preparing for auditions, and TV
presenter and mathematician
Rachel Riley helping to develop
maths skills.

Dance
(like
nobody is
watching).
In response to challenging
times for the live arts sector,
ZooNation: The Kate Prince
Company, is working with
talented professional artists to
deliver a series of high-energy
dance classes to try out at
home. The weekly sessions are
an ideal opportunity to learn
some Hip Hop moves. Each class
explores different techniques
that inspire ZooNation’s
signature style.
