FROM THE CEO | Welcome W OUR PURPOSE IS TO REIMAGINE LEARNING C orporate purpose is no longer a ‘nice to have’, it’s a business-critical imperative. When lived and breathed within an organisation, it represents a ‘guiding north star’, supporting decision making at all levels, and galvanising desired behaviours. In times of disruption — including transformation — it's “the lighthouse in a storm”. Identifying purpose, where it is unclear or evolving, is a work of excavation, not creation. Over the past year, we have been mining our own purpose as an organisation. We’re 15 years old, and have recently relaunched the majority of our Changeboard products and services under the Future Talent brand. We've evolved from a job board, to supporting a community of HR professionals with content and events that help them navigate and make sense of their changing working lives. During this process, we’ve recognised that the core of our work has been a passion for learning. ‘Future talent’ has become our own guiding star for learning that’s progressive, eclectic, inclusive, challenging, creative, engaging and immersive. And so Future Talent Learning is the re-imagining and broadening of our capabilities beyond HR by creating world-class programmes to upskill and future proof all organisations with the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to thrive. It feels like deeply purposeful work that aligns with the DNA of our business. According to studies, only around 10% of training programmes result in any ‘transfer’ of knowledge from the classroom into behaviours in the workplace. When learners aren’t able to practise what they’ve learned in a supportive environment, it’s almost impossible to embed this. Our highly experiential learning includes gamified play and interactive simulations to empower learners with the practical capabilities and mindset needed to deliver long-term organisational transformation. Today, people choose to work for companies where they can continue to learn – and where they detect a meaningful alignment with their personal values. To retain talent, leaders will need to excavate purpose and keep reviewing it, so that it becomes a reflection of their organisational DNA. Only then will it shine authentically like a true north star.
