Tips for Class of 2026
What about screen time?
That’ s tricky. It’ s a big distraction. I slid my phone across the desk to where I couldn’ t easily reach it. I think learners underestimate how much time disappears into screen time. I’ d go as far as to suggest they deactivate their social media accounts during exam season. App blockers, phone timers or even parental controls can help you manage distractions more effectively. For me, reducing time spent on phones created more space for studying, sleeping, and exercising.
How did you stay focused during long study periods?
I broke them down into manageable blocks with small resets in between. I’ m big on tea and coffee and used tea breaks to recharge. When struggling, I’ d get up, make tea, walk around a bit and then get back to my books. It also helped that I’ d created a dedicated study environment. Studying in a quiet space trained my mind to focus whenever I sat down there.
Any other resources – teachers, online platforms, study groups – that were most helpful?
My teachers and support systems helped. I would advise learners to ask questions early on and make use of the people around them. No one gets to where they are on their own.
What advice would you give learners who struggle with procrastination or time management?
In my experience, procrastination often seems rooted in stress. My advice would be to start the work early and be consistent. Once you gain control over the content, anxiety decreases and procrastination becomes less tempting.

Your one essential piece of study advice, and why …
I have a few. Work consistently. Complete homework regularly. Making notes early and revising throughout the year creates understanding long before the exams arrive. The people next to you want what’ s best for you. Allow them to support you.”
