It is not hard to get Asian foods in the United States. There are plenty of Chinese and Thai take-aways in Atlanta, such as Panda Express. These foods taste quite good, and serve as an important part of American food culture, which features fast food and is a highly mixed melting pot. The Vietnamese food truck which visits Emory once every week is my favorite. The friendly couple cooks fantastic rice with chicken or beef. I spent most of my Dooley dollar on that. In addition, the cox hall serves Japanese sushis every day. However, if you want to get “authentic” Asian foods in the US, it is quite hard. No matter how good Panda Express tastes, it is still American Chinese food, which will never remind Chinese people of their memory about food in China. Sushi and kimchi in the US are also different from those in their born place. They are modified to fit in American’s favor. If you want to have authentic Chinese food here, you have to cook by yourself. However, last semester, my friends and I went to a Korean restaurant, which served “real” Korean foods.
