Adventure racing is a multi-disciplinary team sport involving navigation through the outdoors. The four( 4) person adventure race Fusion was introduced to Trinidad and Tobago’ s sporting calendar in 2007. It started with fourteen( 14) teams and has grown exponentially over the past ten( 10) years to host over one hundred( 100) teams per year.
The name Fusion aptly suited the event as it means the bringing together of pieces to make a whole, releasing much energy in the process, which is exactly what takes place in Fusion amongst the teams, sponsors, volunteers and administrators. The event takes participants through mountainous trials and other terrain, engaging teams in the discovery of exotic flora and fauna. The fourmember teams which are categorized as male, female and co-ed, all compete against each other by engaging in activities that test their endurance, teamwork, and adaptability to physical and mental challenges in the unpredictability of the forest. It is the ultimate test of spirit, ingenuity and commitment. Fusion offers intrigue and suspense, as details of each stage of the race are only revealed just before that stage commences.
Fusion has earned its place as the premier adventure race in Trinidad and Tobago and is the largest adventure race in the Caribbean. The achievement of this accolade is attributable to the sponsors who share in the vision and have continued to support the development of the event, the participants who have continued to work hard on their speed, endurance and team work hence increasing the competitiveness of the event each year and the volunteers who continue to dedicate their time and effort in ensuring a successful event.
The participants of Fusion comprise of a varying cross-section of the populace.
