The Venue, a favorite hangout in Hagat-
na, is a certified pet-friendly establish-
ment. On Aug. 26, The Venue hosted the
National Dog Day. There were treats for
the pooches and their owners, as well as
pop-up store and services from @fetch-
guam and @pooh_hsu.
Scuba, left, and Denver, right, love photo ops. “Denver is half-
dog half-bear. I call him half-bear because he is too big. Scuba is…
I don’t know,” their human-daddy, Julius Sotomayor, says in jest. It
doesn’t matter to him what breed they are—they are simply a pair
of love and joy.
Sotomayor adopted Scuba from GAIN about four years ago.
Denver came along serendipitously two years later. His previous
owner had to leave Guam and was unable to take him along.
“When I went to Denver’s owner’s going away BBQ, I saw Denver
and asked her, ‘Are you taking Denver with you?’ She said, ’No.
YOU’RE taking Denver!’ I had to make a decision in a matter of
seconds, to assess if it’s something I can do. I said, ‘OK!’
Scuba and Denver get along well. “Scuba is the type of student
who thinks she’s so smart and likes pleasing others especially the
teacher while Denver doesn’t care about grades but is effortlessly
charming, nonetheless,” Sotomayor says.
