Private markets seek new heights with asset servicers providing oxygen
What was once a cottage industry is now a very large one awash with institutional money , and with this comes new responsibilities and challenges as private markets continue to ascend to new heights , writes Charles Gubert .
It has been an exceptionally busy period for asset servicers , whose remits encapsulate private market strategies – such as private equity and private debt . Not only is the asset class managing record amounts of money , but investors and regulators – namely the US Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC ) – are imposing stringent new reporting requirements on the private funds industry as a whole . As these pressures pile up , manager demand for data and technology led solutions from asset servicers is growing . But do service providers have enough technology talent to support managers with their expanding data needs ?
