Music Festivals worldwide have become
more and more popular, as massive
amounts of people flock from far and wide,
to experience the music of their choice.
South Africans are not to be left out of this
trend, as festivals are widely supported
across the country.
Through the ages, festivals served to meet
specific needs of communities, whether
religious or social celebration, or as ethnic
tradition. Often, they were an occasion for
the elders of the community to share stories
of their culture, creating an opportunity for
families to feel a sense of belonging.

These days, festivals take on a very
different air. They are often held outdoors,
over a number of days, with camping
as accommodation, and include people
from all walks of life, who are there for one
attraction – the music.
