Markus Wormstorm
Classically trained DJ, Markus Wormstorm has moulded hip
hop beats, glitches and ethereal atmospheric sounds with his
classical knowledge, to create an intoxicating blend of Techhouse, which flows through your ears and down to your feet,
making it impossible not to dance! With his legendary sets,
he has graced every stage in the game, with numerous world
tours under his belt.
Born in Pretoria, he moved to Cape Town at the age of
18. Here he produced his first solo album entitled Rachel
the Bear by burning 100 CDs himself, and handing them
out at gigs and to friends, one of which made its way to
New York, leading the way to a contract with Sound-ink
Records. During this period Markus collaborated with Waddy
Jones and DJ partner, Sibot on their ambitious project,The
Constructus Corporation (on African Dope Records, a cult
hybrid electronic / urban label from Cape Town.

They produced The Tale of How, the second part of a trilogy
of works called the Dodo Trilogy. It won Best International
Film at the Bradford Animation Festival Awards, and the
Canal & Prix award at the Cleremon Ferrand Film Festival.
But let’s not stop there…The Tale of How was also named in
the top ten at the Nicktoons Network Animation Festival and
was also the flagship piece for the Resfest International Film
Festival for 2007.
Later, The Black Heart Gang completed the trilogy with
The Tale of Then and The Tale of When. The Dodo Trilogy, in
turn, fits into a much greater work called The Household.
In Cape Town, Markus had begun to build a reputation for
his music for TV and film. Together with Sibot and brother
Duncan Ringrose, he formed the corporate sound design
agency, SayThankYou, which has become one of the leading
composition and sound design agencies in South Africa,
testified by a number of Gold and Silver Loerie Awards for
Composition and Sound Design.
Mark Wormstorm and Sibot have become a household name
on the Cape Town party and live music circuit, and continue
to tour South Africa and the world, on a regular basis.
