But the guy draws a lot of comix, like, a web series called ‘The Last Nub’ on Mahal a.co.za, and also does infantile, childlike illustrations on a pretty regular basis. He started putting out the ‘Agenda’ mini comic, under the guise of (sic.) Comix Mini Theatre. September will see the third issue of this belligerent pamphlet of jokes and jabs. Mogorosi Motshumi Mogorosi Motshumi has been a cartoonist for over 35 years. He has worked as an editorial and sports cartoonist for varied publications including The Voice, City Press and Daily Sun. Mogorosi collaborated with Andy Mason on a popular comic for Learn and Teach magazine and is presently inking part two of his autobiography, 360 Degrees. Chris Beukes By day Chris Beukes produces educational and corporate titles for Strika Entertainment as an Art Director, and by night he beats chunks of his raw imagination into self-published comics, swearing and bleeding over them until they escape his grasp and flee into the world. The most recent of these is a wildly ambitious collaboration with local Heavy Metal band, Strident, and is called Wrath. “It’s the Neverending Story all grown up, with lashings of punk, metal, arcade games, Mad Max and Conan.” He hopes you’ll enjoy it. Zapiro Born Jonathan Shapiro, Zapiro has been editorial cartoonist for the Mail & Guardian since 1994, the Sunday Times since 1998 and The Times since May 2009. Previously he was editorial cartoonist for The Sowetan (1994 – 2005), The Cape Argus (1996 -1997), The Cape Times, The Star, The Mercury and Pretoria News (2005 – 2008). He has published 17 cartoon collections, a large-format hardcover, The Mandela Files, and he will shortly be publishing a book of cartoons on sport. He has received numerous international and SA awards and two honorary doctorates. Jason Masters Jason Masters illustrates for advertising agencies by day and by night he draws comics for himself and DC comics. He’s drawn various short stories for Wildstorm studios, including Human Target, Red Faction and a one shot prequel to the movie RED (starring Bruce Willis). More recently his work can be seen in the pages of Batman Incorporated and Legends of the Dark Knight #7 from DC Comics. Stephanie Simpson Stephanie Simpson studied Fine Art at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. In her third year she made a series of hand sewn creatures called Nanimals. After working at the University as an assistant lecturer in Art History for two years, she relocated to the Western Cape where she studied Illustration at Stellenbosch University. She currently spends time with her most famous character, Norman Nanimal making up fanciful children’s stories for grown-ups based on their adventures in Nastraliam. Jarred Cramer Jarred Cramer is the artist and writer behind Juvies, a webcomic based on himself and his two best friends. Juvies Volume 1: Under Construction is available and the second volume, Juvies Volume 2: Outta my Head, is due later this year. He is also the author of Super-Dud. He is the founder of virtual studio, Kaos Produktion Studios. FULL CIRCLE DIGITAL MAGAZINE AUGUST 2013
