Can you tell us about your skating background?

A good friend of mine, Jacob Forquer, introduced me to longboarding about six years ago when he got his first board. I was immediately hooked. My first year of skating consisted completely of cruising around with my friends. That all changed when I saw my first “Adam and Adam” video: Skating to Sunshine. From that point on, I wanted to see what possibilities the board beneath me had to offer.

What’s it like skating central Ohio?

In the past couple years, a solid scene has popped up in Columbus. Central Ohio is pretty flat; however it has enough going on to facilitate learning the basics. Most of the skaters are pretty young, but have a lot of talent. There have been a fair amount of races and slide jams held locally, which has produced some great exposure for the sport.

In southern Ohio, there are some great downhill runs. The most well-known of which is Jester Hill, host of the annual Soldiers of Downhill race each October. This event represents Ohio Downhill at its finest. Narrow roads, janky pavement, and sketchy townies always keep it interesting.

What do you do in the winter months?

During winter I normally snowboard, However this year mountain biking and a skate trip south should get me through.

I see on your gear that you have a few sponsors. Give us a rundown on sponsors?

I am Stoked to be working with Orangatang and Original. Both companies are run by a really cool group of people and they make a great product. Definitely check them out if you haven’t already. I have to give a shout out to Ohio Downhill Skate, RDVX, Rybioko and Infinity Zero for their support as well. I am pumped to be involved with them.

What is your downhill set up?

Recently I have been running an Original Arbiter, Buzzed trucks and Orangatang Kegels.
