trip, we went out to Mordor. I was stoked to pass a car for the first time. The driver was surprisingly unconcerned when I came up beside him.

Where is your favorite run in the Midwest?

There are some gems out here, but the location isn’t important

What races are you planning to attend this year?

I’m hoping to spend some time out west and hit Maryhill and Whistler. I plan at being at Soldiers ACME, and as many other east coast events as I can swing.

Have you had a chance to skate the Original warehouse and the mega mini ramp?

I haven’t made it out to the warehouse yet, but it looks like a good time.

Seeing that it’s a new year, is there any gear your excited that is coming out this year?

I am stoked on the Kegels and new Freeride wheels that Otang has come out with. Originals new KT Arbiter is awesome as well. Infinity Zero is making some great board and bearing cleaner that is worth checking out. I have heard talk about purpose built DH shoes as well.

Have any advice for our younger readers about skating?

I have seen too many young people that are out skating because they want to get sponsored. Skate because you love skating.

What direction do you see longboarding taking shape for you in the future?

I want to continue pursuing downhill. It gives me a great excuse to travel, whether it’s to a race or a new mountain pass. Racing is super fun and I enjoy the opportunity to compete and learn from other skaters. The first time down a new mountain pass is one of the most exhilarating experiences. Being on the board for 5-10 minutes is an unbelievable feeling. I can’t wait to travel and skate in new places.

Any shout outs?

I have to give a shout out to my sponsors for supporting me so much in my skating, thanks so much Orangatang and Original. Thanks Nathan Murray and Rybioko for making awesome videos to promote my friends and I. Finally, thanks to my parents and girlfriend for always supporting me
