Walking into the skatepark you would not expect to see the girth of a longboard popping and flying around but under the feet of Joe Ferry you would expect nothing less.
Joe hails from South Eastern Michigan where the hills are not known for their length and size as other parts of the country. That doesn't deter Joe from hitting it hard though.
We sat down and talked with Joe about his riding...
Q: Joe, after seeing you skate, I have a hard time classifying your style. How would you classify your style?
A: I really have a hard time myself. Barney swag maybe?
Q: What made you think to take your board into a park or bowls?
A: I just wanted to freak people out.
Q: Do you have a favorite skate discipline?
A: I would have to say racing. It’s just raw.
Q: What are your current DH & Free ride setups?
A: DH: Right now I have the Nevada Decks Desert Shark with some REY death rey’s, Rad race forms, XBS ceramic bearings, rip tide bushing, and some added barney swag.
Free ride: Sloppy Joe DK some shit bushings, some shit trucks, and some wheels.
Q: What was or is the hardest trick or slide for you to get down?
A: Right now for free ride it would have to be switch toe checks. But in the park it would have to be backside air to tail stall, it’s really hard getting the right rotation to plant my tail on the coping.
When it comes to skating, Joe Ferry knows no boundries.
