Who we are
We are a group of health or social care service users and carers , academics and staff from the Schools in the Faculty . We are all passionate about public involvement and engagement in health and social care education , scholarship and research . We contribute to this in various ways . This ranges from those of us who volunteer our time to contribute to the work of the Faculty to those of us who work in public involvement and engagement roles .
What we do
The purpose of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
User and Carer Liaison Group is to maximise user and carer involvement and engagement in education , scholarship and research in the Faculty . We do this by proactively supporting user and carer initiatives in the following ways :
Directly facilitating public involvement and engagement
• acting as a link between service user and carer forums and the wider Faculty
• promoting equality of support , reward and recognition mechanisms for users and carers
• coordinating user and carer activities across the Faculty
Promoting and sharing best practice
• developing good practice guidelines
• signposting to good practice guidelines and resources produced by groups within the University and organisations outside of the University
• collating and sharing existing and new good practice
• celebrating and showcasing achievements related to public involvement and engagement in education , scholarship and research
• undertaking and collaborating in research about public involvement and engagement
Representing and reporting
• providing appropriate representation to Faculty bodies and University committees
• providing appropriate representation to organisations outside of the University
