News 40th anniversary for FPS F PS EXPO 2019 will mark the start of a year of celebrations for the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers (FPS) which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. As the exhibition reaches its 39th year, the FPS team is pleased to announce that with three months to go, over 75% of the available floorspace is booked. Over 83 companies from both the UK and Europe have secured space including long term exhibitors MAN Truck & Bus, Elaflex, Valero, Phillips 66, Cobo Tankers and Services Williams Tanker Services and TankQuip. Among the 16 companies exhibiting for the first time are Dipetane International, the Oil Recycling Association and Miles Macadam. The scope of this year’s FPS EXPO has been broadened in line with changes in the industry to include other relevant trade associations. To this end there will be a dedicated area for OFTEC and the Oil Recycling Association and their members. An additional area will focus on renewables – including bio kerosene – giving fuel distributors an opportunity to look at how they can future proof their businesses in preparation for a decarbonised world. Whilst limited space remains in these new areas, FPS welcomes enquiries from relevant exhibitors. “The focus for this year’s exhibition is in targeting a wider range of businesses from every corner of the fuel distribution industry,” explained Dawn Shakespeare, FPS membership & events manager. Industry Discussion Panels Short discussion forums and panel sessions about key topics affecting the fuel distribution industry today will include: 3The UK supply chain 3Clean Growth Strategy 3Road to Zero 3Issues affecting Ireland truck 3Road legislation 3Driver training 3How technology can improve or protect your business Supermarkets take the RCWS lead “W e welcome the government’s Environmental Audit Committee report but there is a need to recognise that car washes are found in a variety of locations including petrol forecourts, garden and leisure centres, retail parks, car auctions etc as well as disused pieces of land,” said Teresa Sayers, Responsible Car Wash Scheme (RCWS). “Supermarkets are taking a proactive lead in tackling issues found across the industry through the Responsible Car Wash Scheme. There are many other land owners and operators, not connected to supermarkets, that must also be reminded of the need to follow environmental legislation as well as ensuring their workers are properly treated and they abide by all UK regulations. “Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda and Waitrose, are all founding members of the RCWS which is committed to developing a fully compliant industry, enabling operators to compete commercially on equal terms. “RCWS is working with the GLAA, the Police, HSE and the EA to imbed the code of practice within the industry, the scheme having been rolled out in the Midlands last month and with national rollout from April. RCWS accreditation will enable operators to demonstrate to consumers that they abide by a code of practice that not only tackles the need to protect the environment (including operators having the appropriate trade effluence licensing at the site) but also ensures that they trade legally, look after their workers and care for their customers. “The RCWS is open to the entire industry and we encourage all landowners with car washes on their premises to support the RWCS and make accreditation with the scheme a requirement for operating from their premises.” 5RDG7DQNHUV1RUWKHUQDUHDEOHWRSURYLGHDÀH[LEOHFRPSHWLWLYHKLUHVFKHPH 2ႇHULQJERWKORQJWHUPDQGVKRUWWHUPKLUHVROXWLRQVZHKDYHDYDULHW\RI YHKLFOHVUHDGLO\DYDLODEOHLQFOXGLQJ • • • Aviation 5LJLGV Trailers $OOYHKLFOHVDUHPDLQWDLQHGSULRUWRGHSDUWXUH DQGXQGHUJRH[WHQVLYHKHDOWKFKHFNVWRVDWLVI\ WKHFXVWRPHU5RDG7DQNHUV1RUWKHUQFDQWDLORU YHKLFOHVWRVXLWWKHFXVWRPHU )RUPRUHLQIRUPDWLRQFDOORUHPDLOXVDWKLUH#UWQOWGFRXN Fuel Oil News | March 2019 9
