Feeling motivated?
Over the last couple of months, many
people with whom Fuel Oil News has
communicated have mentioned a lack
of motivation, with the prime reason
again being the continued uncertainty
around Brexit.
Regarding Brexit Irish reader
Edward Ferguson of Londonderry-based
P Ferguson & Sons said: “I don’t think
you would want to print my comments
or language. Let’s just say at this stage
of the mess it ain’t looking good for
anybody!”
Looking beyond ‘the mess’ it’s
important that the fuel distribution
industry maintains its incentive, stimulus
and inspiration to power on into the
future.
At this month’s StocExpo, which
takes place at Ahoy Rotterdam from
26th-28th March, the event promises a
motivational speaker. Not only giving
his thoughts
on customer
relationships
and digital
marketing,
Steven Van
Belleghem will also focus on how to win
customers in a world of AI, robots and
automation.
Among those talking about the
impact of future demands on the tank
storage industry will be Shell’s terminal
manager Matthew Hudson and Peter
Davidson, executive director at the UK’s
Tank Storage Association who will be
focusing on safety leadership.
With less than a year to go, IMO
2020 is also on the agenda along with
the Terminal of Tomorrow.
Our industry does have a good
track record for overcoming challenges,
but jumping through the hoops just
got a little harder, as the European
Commission focuses on CO2 emission
reduction targets for trucks 15% (2025)
and 30% (2030) plus by 2025 2% of
new trucks must be zero or low-emission.
Edward Ferguson is ‘taking what
comes with regard to the weather
and just hoping that this winter turns
out to be a longer one than usual’….
harking back to that motivational poster
produced by the British government in
1939 – keep calm and carry on!
Mabanaft’s new road loading rack at OIKOS Storage on Canvey
Island. This new facility, which went live in October 2018, has
already seen over 50 million litres of jet fuel loaded – see page 4.
