Many thanks!
This month Fuel Oil News says a big
thank you to Liverpool where the sun
once again shone during last month’s
FPS EXPO – and deservedly so for the
*FPS team who once again pulled out all
the stops to make this event a success.
One of the fi rst actions was to
vote on a change of name with *FPS
becoming the UK & Ireland Fuel
Distributors Association (UKIFDA) or
FDA for short.
FPS EXPO ‘is an old favourite
amongst oil lifers’, says James Spencer
who participated in two of the 10 newly
introduced panel sessions, covering the
Road to Zero and the UK supply chain.
Presenting a united front across
the whole fuel supply chain, this year’s
event was broadened by the inclusion of
UKPIA, the Downstream Fuel Association,
the Tank Storage Association, OFTEC and
businesses in renewables and recycling.
All of which demonstrates that ‘this
most traditional
of industries is
steadily moving
to embrace a
new energy world’ – see page 9.

Recruitment would also like to thank the
many people who took time to enter our
prize draw. Congratulations to Sarah
Morgan of Navigator Terminals who won
a Fitbit Versa Smartwatch.
Entrants to the prize draw were
asked to answer the question – In
three words how would you describe
the fuel industry’s current challenges?
The diverse comments which ranged
from being ‘interesting’, ‘exciting’
and ‘dynamic’ to ‘being ‘fi nancially
challenging’ and ‘a blooming nightmare’
were illuminating – more in a future issue.
Our thanks also go to Nicola Reddy,
the photographer behind this month’s
front cover shot. Nicola’s partner, Ian
Murphy, is manager at Glen Fuels’
Rosslare depot – see page 17. “She’s a
talented lass,” said Alan Keyes of Glen
Fuels.
And lastly, thank you to all those
dedicated and talented people in the fuel
distribution industry who continue to do
an excellent job.
