Building business at Bolsover
FOUNDED IN 1995, DERBYSHIRE-BASED AZTEC OILS IS WELL ON THE WAY TO COMPLETING THE FIRST PHASE OF A
£1.2 MILLION BUILDING PROJECT TO ENABLE ALL PRODUCTION TO BE CENTRALISED AT ITS BOLSOVER SITE

ext month it is expected that the
company’s new 6,000³ metre
warehouse will be fully operational;
with the ability to hold vastly increased pack
stock, delivery times to customers will be
reduced.
Extra storage tanks are also being installed
to increase total bulk oil capacity to 2,500
tonnes on site.
In 2019 a further development will see the
demolition of two existing buildings to make
way for a further 2,000³ metre warehouse
scheduled for completion in 2020. In addition,
plans have been drawn-up for a brand-new
offi ce block to house 50 staff.
Starting on the former Bolsover Colliery site
near Chesterfi eld, Aztec acquired Tipton-
based Oiline Lubricants in the West Midlands
in 2010. In 2015 the Bolsover site as
purchased from Welbeck Estates enabling
production to be centralised and costs to be
reduced, helping the company to position
itself to aggressively build market share.
“Whilst the Tipton manufacturing
site will close in 2018, an Aztec distributor
has been appointed to maintain our
presence in the area with fi ve jobs
being transferred to this company,” said
managing director, Mark Lord.
“At least 30 jobs will be created in
Bolsover over the next three years, with
on ly 9 jobs lost from the Tipton site.
“Aztec Oils believes in building
strong relationships with its staff,
investing heavily in training and personal
development offering long-term career
progression. With a current staff of 80, a
quarter have over 10 years’ service with
many having progressed from unskilled
labour to management positions.
“With excellent links to the
motorway network, Bolsover is well-
positioned to offer fast nationwide
distribution of Aztec Oils’ quality
lubricants, and we now have the capacity
to grow the business in export markets
around the world,” Mark added.

A quarter of a century later the site is unrecognisable: Having
made improvements at the front of the site, Tuffa has extended the
factory which now houses plastic moulds, ovens and workshop, a steel
fabrication and welding plant and a new mezzanine production facility
for the manufacture of AdBlue tanks.
