Falls in Love with a
300 Year Old Girl
Falls in Love with a 300 year old girl is about the stories of an angel who was reincarnated 3 times. Her master gave her a choice of three different lotuses to take with her to her new life, a pink lotus for beauty, a purple lotus for wealth, and a white lotus for intelligence. The most ironic thing about her is that all those lotus her master gave her was actually going against her. Like if she wasn't beautiful, her first life wouldn't be as tragic. And if she weren't as wealthy, her second life wouldn't be so tragic either. In the end she realized that all of the attributes was going against her. In her first life, her family was so poor, but her father wanted a son. It shows a society where the poor people had to sell their daughters off because her father wanted a son.
She was sold off to a brothel when she was 5 and because she was so pretty, she was immediately sold off. If she wasn't so beautiful, she could have ended up as a maid or with some other family. In her second life, she chose wealth because she realized being poor was miserable. In fact, in her first life, she blamed all the misery that befell her on poverty, which is why in her second life she chose the purple flower. She was born into a rich house where she didn't have to worry about anything. In addition, it shows how women were being treated. Women were nothing more than an object because women were supposed to depend on their parents when they were young, when they were married they depend on their husband, and when their husband died, she depends on her sons.
Which is why the mother didn't really care for her daughter. She grew up without love. She eventually married into a marriage without love to a successful business man. And although she didn't have to worry about anything, she never got love. She never received love from her mother, her husband, or anybody either. A lot of people criticized her for being weak because she just accepted her fate. Back then, women were taught like that, not to fight against the authority. As a girl, you were supposed to be meek; that was actually one of the virtues of women.
Some people think the story was boring, but the truth is, the story isn't trying to educate you to live as a strong girl, neither is it trying to portray her as a role model, but the story shows what girls had to go through back in the day. It's like reading a biography. In the third life, she chose intelligence because she was worn out by her past experiences. In a way it had a lot to do with Buddhism because the steps she chose were very traditional.
Even the representation of the lotus was Buddhist. The choices she made were what normal people would make, first she valued her physical body, then she valued what she possessed, then she realized, in the end that all these things were really nothing, and intelligence was something no one could take away from you. Even the representation of the lotus was Buddhist.
The choices she made were what normal people would make, first she valued her physical body, then she valued what she possessed, then she realized, in the end that all these things were really nothing, and intelligence was something no one could take away from you. The story not only tries to show you about the life back then, but also about Buddhism, karma, and reincarnation.
Even though she lived three times, she still made stupid choices. I guess the moral of the story is don't choose any of the flowers! Just choose nothing. Perhaps if she had chosen nothing, then she could have lived better. The lesson that her master probably tried to teach her was not to become attached to things such as beauty or wealth, but she was still attached to those kind of worldly desires. And those worldly desires were what made her miserable. In the end, in order to save the man she loves, she disappeared.
The ending is sort of debatable, it depends on how people view it. When I was little, I hated it. The final choice she made was to use the flower on someone else's happiness. So maybe she will be happy, maybe she will not. Everything is gone so now she can rest. The ending is very debatable because why did she have to disappear? She could have just let the guy die and she could have reincarnated again. This was a nice little story that gave you some quick history, some life lessons, and some religious backgrounds.
