The Historic Ward Rooming House Gallery, Built
in 1925, was known as a resting place and safe
haven for both Blacks and Native Americans.
The building is now a historic landmark and
serves as an art gallery.

Theodore R. Gibson Park is a state-of-the-art
sports complex and gymnasium that features
an indoor basketball court and recreational
space.
The park also features a recreation building
incorporating a fitness center, Olympic size
swimming pool, kids play area, walking paths,
and an open air plaza for the community to
enjoy.
The Overtown Music & Arts Festival celebrates
the neighborhood’s rich culture and heritage.
Free to the general public, the family-friendly
event includes live performances by nationally-
known recording artists and local musicians
and a vast array of vendors showcasing artwork,
ethnic cuisine, unique crafts and jewelry, and an
expanded youth zone with community providers
and interactive arts activities for kids.
The annual street festival has attracted thousands
of attendees, shining a positive light on Overtown
and promoting the neighborhood’s revitalization.
Festival goers dance and sing in the streets, while
local artists, businesses, and non-profits proudly
showcase their work to the crowds.
