our current state, and planned for our future.
There are many issues that affect the black
community; stand your ground, equal voting
rights, immigration reform, equal access to
justice, and equal pay, just to name a few.
As seen during the Boycott Miami Movement,
and the Civil Rights Movement before that,
black lawyers must be at the forefront of these
issues; zealously advocating for change within
our communities.
While we hope the attendees enjoyed
themselves, and truly appreciate the support of
our scholarship fundraising effort, this was a
direct call to action.
We must carry our torch, be the voice for
our community, and in turn, inspire the
next generation of lawyers to discover their
personal legends and to stand tall on the
shoulders of those who
came before them.
It has been nearly twenty-nine years since
the impactful implementation of the Boycott
Miami Movement, and yet some still perceive
“African-Americans to be politically and
economically impotent.”
While we hope that everyone enjoyed our 41st
Annual Scholarship Gala, our true hope is that
they left inspired, empowered, and renewed
their commitment to the organization’s
ideals of equal access, equal opportunity,
and equal justice.
