EDITOR'S COMMENT
From good to better to best…
FOR YOU
L
ate in October the last
frontshop Training
Academy took place. The
Academy kicked off in
Johannesburg, then moved
to Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.
Sponsored by Bayer, GlaxoSmithKline
(GSK) and Reckitt Benckiser, all the
sessions were very well attended.
I would like to thank you to each and
every one of you for supporting the
frontshop Training Academy, not only now
but throughout the year. We hope that you
have enjoyed the sessions this year and
will be attending them again next year. As
always we endeavour to make these
interesting and useful for you.
Front shop assistants and pharmacy
assistants play an important role in the
pharmacy of today. Consumers are busier
than ever, with less time than ever and
are constantly seeking advice regarding
products. This is where your role is
invaluable. We at frontshop hope that our
training sessions assist you in fulfilling

this role, by providing valuable
information through our sponsors.
With the workplace changing so
quickly, on-going learning has become
more and more important. But our time,
just like the consumers’, is also limited.
The Academy provides education in an
effective and time efficient period. We
also must thank the sponsors of the
Academy, as they allow us to present
these sessions to you free of charge.
Without these sponsorships none of these
sessions would be possible.
The Academy also offers you the
unique opportunity to network with your
peers and colleagues in a professional
but relaxed environment.
We want to make sure that the
Academy continues to meet your needs. In
the future, for example an idea is to utilise
technology and do live broadcasts of the
sessions via our website. We also want to
do podcasts of the speakers on our
websites and a newsletter. We believe
these innovations will add value to the

training and grow it to include a wider
audience every month.
Please email me any suggestions you
have. I have calls and emails from
Hermanus and George requesting we
hold training sessions there (I have not
forgotten you) and we will look into how
we can accomplish this.
