Specifically, with the VNA, it’s the idea of sharing, in an open architecture, all the
imaging type of data—including some that is not traditionally thought of as imaging
data, and storing it in a format that can be used for collaboration. According to Dr.
Blatt, “It’s incorporating these images into the system in a logical fashion which allows
them to be shared, distributed...and allows collaboration beyond the radiologists—
the primary doctor, the surgeon, the homecare provider, all to work together—to
collaborate—to produce a better outcome with sharing of information broadly across
the architecture.“
