Fullbacks playing diagonal balls into the strikers

The first pattern we are looking at is the fullbacks passing to the striker who holds the ball up and passes back to a midfielder who passes the ball out wide to be crossed into the box.

When coaching the pattern we are looking at types of service into the striker, the movement of the supporting midfielders, the

wide player creating

space for the pass, the

type of cross into the box

and the runs into the box

and the positioning of the

oppositions defenders

If the fullbacks play short into the striker to check towards the ball to

receive we can create various options depending on how the

opposition defenders

have reacted

1. If the striker is free

to turn they can either drive at the defenders,

pass out wide and make a run into the box, shoot depending on the area of the field they have received in , delay and

allow a supporting midfielder to run through.
