WINTER WONDERLAND
Russia is a communist, winter waste-land. That's what most people think, but they're wrong. In reality, Russia is a diverse country with a rich history. Despite its old negative communist perception and new controversial anti-gay laws, it still is one of the most popular countries to visit; because of its vast landscapes and breath taking architecture. Russia is the world's largest country, it can fit 25 Texas size pieces of land inside its borders. It hosts over 25 million tourists a year (IndexMundi) and even more are predicted to come this year. The two main attractions for this year will be the Winter Olympics in Sochi and the Capital of Russia, Moscow.
Bearing the cold could be a challenge for people experiencing the Russian winter for the first time. But it won't be if you're traveling to Sochi for the Olympics. Sochi is a coastal town with palm trees and white sand beaches. Above the beaches are towering new beach front resorts that over look the black sea. One would wonder how they could host the Winter Olympics in a place where it doesn't snow. The truth is most of the Olympics won't be held in Sochi, only the indoor event such as Hockey, Speed Skating, and curling. The Skiing, snowboarding among other events will be held In the Caucasus Mountains where there is mountaintop hotels with five star views of the blacktopped mountains. The Sochi Olympics will be the first Olympics held in Russia since they took place in Moscow during the 80's Soviet Union era. The Olympics will be a celebration for the world as all of the planets top athletes come together in one city. The Olympics will bring people together people from all kinds of backgrounds in a truly magical 16 days that you can't afford to miss.
